SUGGESTIONS FOR KNITTING COMFORT SCARVE

Knit a 4-5 Inch X 60+ Inch “Comfort” Scarf

Use soft mid-weight or bulky yarn. Or combine yarns different textured yarns to make your scarf more interesting. Different stitches use more or less yarn. Wrap and Drop uses the least.

Mid-Weight:   Use size 10 ½, 11, or 13 needles.
  Cast on 10, 11, 12, or 13 stitches depending on which pattern you select. 

  *  Garter stitch
:     10, 11, 12, or 13 stitches.  Knit each row. 
                             Cast off. 
Weave in the ends.

  *  Seed stitch
:       11 or 13 stitches.  Every row, knit 1, purl 1.  End with knit 1.
                             Cast off. 
Weave in the ends.

  *  Farrow rib
:        13 stitches.  Every row, knit 3, purl 1.  End with knit 1. 
                             Cast off. 
Weave in the ends.

  *  Wrap & drop
:    10, 11, 12, or 13 stitches. 
Knit two rows, then begin the pattern.
      
       Row 1:  (Wrap row) knit 1, *YO, knit 1* to end of row
       Row 2: 
(Drop row) knit 1, *drop the wrapped stitch, knit 1* to the end of row.

After the last drop row, knit two rows (as you did at the beginning).
  Cast off.  Weave in the ends. 

Bulky: Use size 15, 17, or 19 needles. Cast on 7, 8, 9, or 10 stitches, depending on which pattern you select.

  *  Garter stitch:
   7, 8, 9, or 10 stitches.  Knit each row.  Cast off. 
Weave in the ends.

  *  Seed stitch
:      7 or 9 stitches.  Every row, knit 1, purl 1.  End with knit 1.
                           Cast off. 
Weave in the ends.

  *  Farrow rib
:      9 stitches.  Every row, knit 3, purl 1.  End with knit 1.
                           Cast off. 
Weave in the ends.

  *  Wrap & drop
:  7, 8, 9, or 10 stitches. 
Knit two rows, then begin the pattern.

      Row 1:  
(Wrap row)  knit 1, *YO, knit 1* to end of row
     
Row 2:  
(Drop row)  knit 1, *drop the wrapped stitch, knit 1* to the end of row

After the last drop row, knit two rows (as you did at the beginning).  Cast off. 
Weave in the ends.
